In the March 2021 Budget, Rishi Sunak announced that the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (Furlough) would be extended until September 2021. Currently, the government covers up to 80% of an employee’s salary for the hours they can’t work – up to a maximum of £2,500 per month.
For periods starting on or after 01 May 2021, you can claim the CJRS for employees who were employed on 02 March 2021 as long as you have made an RTI submission to HMRC between 20 March 2020 and 02 March 2021 notifying a payment of earnings for that employee.
You do not need to have previously claimed for an employee before the 02 March 2021 to claim for periods starting on or after 01 May 2021.
